The alarm goes off, and it’s early. Too early. Your mind quickly runs through a list of options: Should I get up today? Do I HAVE to? 5 more minutes! it pleads. Ultimately, the alarm wins and we roll from beneath our warm, cozy sheets as our feet meet a cold, hard floor. Here we go.
What a way to start the day.
Admittedly, I’ve always been sort of a ‘morning person’ (because come 10 pm I’m practically done for the day). Still, even I don’t jump out of bed each morning, tail wagging, ready and eager to start the day. I’m tired. Many mornings I’d much rather remain wrapped in my warm, fuzzy cocoon and tell the alarm to shut up. Here’s the catch though, because once I’m up – attitude is everything.
I don’t know about you, but I choose to be happy.
Start your morning with a smile.
I’m personally tired of waking up (tired, of course) and groggy each morning, cursing at the alarm. So, I’m going to change things up a bit. This week, I’m going to start each day with a smile. I encourage you to do the same. When that alarm goes off, make it your first thought. Find something, anything, which makes YOU happy. It can be something as simple as looking forward to that first sip of your morning coffee or tea, or perhaps you’ve got something fun and exciting coming up soon? It’s that easy.
Make it a goal. Treat it like your first checked-off task of the day.
Step 1: Wake up -check.
Step 2: Think a happy thought/look forward to doing something nice for yourself. -check.
Step 3: Smile. -check.
Whether you’re getting up to go to work, heading out for a morning jog, or it’s your first day off in weeks, join me each morning and make it great. Who knows? It might just make the rest of the day a little bit better 🙂
